The lights switch on held on November 24th was, once again, a wonderful community event with over 250 people attending to see the village lights switched on, enjoy entertainment, provided by Pee Wee and enjoy some festive refreshments. All children at St Lawrence Primary Academy were asked to enter a competition to design a Christmas card and the winners were invited to switch on the lights along with the Town Crier. One of the winning entries was chosen to be the front cover of the December edition of Gnosall Parish News, the village magazine.
Gnosall Scouts helped cook and serve the hot food and any donations received were retained by the scouts for their fund raising projects. GG’s Youth Club ran a tombola stall and funds raised were retained by the youth club . GLEAN managed a raffle and funds raised were retained by GLEAN to help with the library project. Donations received from entry tickets were split between GG’s Youth Club and GLEAN.
Six Christmas trees are illuminated around the parish and the Council is grateful to John Hall (of JWH Ground Maintenance), who voluntarily gives his time every year to erect the trees along with the Council’s handyman and some councillors. Thanks are also extended to Norbury Park Estate who provide a free Christmas tree every year for the Knightley ward.
The Council wish all parishioners a very happy Christmas and best wishes for the New Year.
