GG’s Youth Club
Fruity mock-tails and delicious cakes, including warm chocolate brownies donated by The Horns, were the theme of the evening on Wednesday 26th April when GG’s Youth Club celebrated its first anniversary.
The building was spruced up for this occasion with the external walls cleaned, the windows cleaned (free of charge) by Mick Ferguson and bunting hung all around the building to give a real party atmosphere. A new sign, designed by some of the youth club members, was unveiled.
What a fantastic year it has been for our members! They’ve been to Newport Rock Climbing Centre, paid a visit to Gnosall’s Fire station to learn all about fire safety and had some fun with the hoses, there have been several parties, BBQ’s, quizzes and competitions and every week members are given the opportunity to take part in arts and crafts, cooking and games.
Now the summer months are here, they are making good use of the field, rounders being especially popular at the moment - so much so that the members have asked for a Rounders Tournament in the summer. On 17th June the Youth Club entered a float at the Disney themed Carnival and members dressed up as various Disney Pixar characters.
They will be arranging a Village Treasure Hunt and BBQ on 19th July from 6pm as part of GFest 2017.
Plans are in hand to extend the youth club provision for older children in school years 7, 8 and 9 from September on a Thursday evening. Volunteers are needed to make this happen so if you can spare some of your time to help, we’d love to hear from you.
GG’s Youth Club is open during the Summer Holidays every other week on 2nd August, 16th August and 30th August.
