Welcome

I’m writing this in the midst of Storm Dennis, when the weather is decidedly chilly, raining like fury and blowing like mad. Christmas seems ages ago, holidays are too far away to contemplate and I just want to hunker down. But by the time you read this, a quarter of the year will already be over! Your Parish Council is planning for the year ahead, bringing forward some new ideas and finally moving forward on plans which have been shelved for a variety of reasons, such as the Dementia Sensory Garden. 2019 was another challenging year for the Council, not least due to staff shortage because of an unfilled vacancy and ill-health amongst our councillors. However, we are now up to speed, with a full complement of staff (see information about our new Council Support Officer elsewhere in the GMK) and with councillors enjoying somewhat better health. So it’s all systems go!

I really do hope that as many of you as possible will support the various Council events over the course of the year. It is lovely to see familiar faces but even more special to welcome those new residents to our village, who may never have lived in a village location before. We are very fortunate to have an active community, which organises many events and looks after other parishioners. As a Parish Council, we really enjoy helping parishioners to meet others and to enjoy their company; this is especially true for our older residents, who may not see their friends as often as they’d like. If any of our newer residents are also able to assist any of the local groups, that would be very welcomed, I am sure.

The BKV team are already gearing up for another year and plans are well advanced for another C-Fest this year too – both activities which add greatly to the attractions of this village. It’s great to see such enthusiasm for events and activities which bring people together and I feel it is one of the great strengths of Gnosall life – a sense of togetherness and shared endeavour. I hope that both are wellsupported and successful. It only remains for me to welcome you to the March edition of G MK and to look forward to seeing you soon.

Cllr Gail Gregory

Chair of Gnosall Parish Council

Coronavirus (Covid-19)

As many of you will have gathered over recent days, steps are being taken to minimise the impact of this virus. One of the precautions mentioned is the need for those who suspect they may be showing symptoms to self-isolate, in order to protect others from any potential risk. There is also talk of those over 70, or in a vulnerable group due to pre-existing health conditions, needing to self-isolate too – perhaps for several weeks.

local group has been formed to help those self-isolating with daily needs. They have a Facebookgroup – Gnosall Community Support for Covid-19 – and the Parish Offi ce is acting as the hub forenquiries. If you are in need of help, please contact the Parish on 01785 822685, by email at clerk@gnosallparishcouncil.org.uk, or by leaving a message on the Parish Facebook page. We will thenpass your request onto a local volunteer.

Coronavirus is contagious, so please take every precaution to ensure that you spread only kindness. Please wash your hands regularly and thoroughly with soap and water, avoid physical contact, use atissue to contain the virus if you cough or sneeze and dispose of it in a waste bin.It is really good to see that the local community has pulled together to help each other. Thank you everyone.
